Effectiveness of the Pomodoro Technique
The Pomodoro Technique is a vital instrument for time management junkies. It enables one to filter out distractions and focus solely on their tasks at hand. I'm a heavy advocate for the Pomodoro Technique and can attest to the power of its use.
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
Invented by Francesco Cirillo, the technique obtained it's name after a tomato-shaped timer that Francesco utilized while studying in school. The basis of the technique is to integrate deep focused work into intervals of 25 minutes with 5 minute breaks in between. Upon the succession of four 25 minute intervals, the user is rewarded with a 20-30 minute break and then the cycle continues as long as the user has assignments/tasks at hand.
Benefits of the Pomodoro Technique:
Benefits include the mitigation of distractions and better time management, increase and sustaining motivation while working, improving planning, defeating procrastination, inhibits physical and mental fatigue and deterring bad habits such as multitasking.
Conclusion:
I recommend giving the technique a try an app I personally use is called Be Focused, it is free and can be downloaded via Mac App Store or here.
